Meet us


Cincinnatus String Quartet was founded in 2015. The current constellation met in 2020. The quartet toured throughout the US and Asia, performing at some of the world’s most prestigious festivals and series including Great Wall International Music Festival in Beijing, China, Bowdoin International Music Festival in Maine, US, and Starling Chamber Music Series in Ohio, US. The quartet has a unique approach to chamber music rehearsal techniques and has received mentorship from international artists such as Kurt Sassmannshaus, Paul Katz, Rohan de Silva, Jan Grüning from the Ariel Quartet, Robin Scott from the Ying Quartet, Keith Robinson from the Miami Quartet, and members of the Juilliard String Quartet.


Cincinnatus String Quartet is a winner of the Schoenfeld International Chamber Music Competition in 2016. The quartet made their Lincoln Center debut and participated in the Juilliard String Quartet Seminar in May 2022.

BoYun Li
Violinist BoYun Li is
the founder of Cincinnatus String Quartet, now serves as first violinist in the quartet. Cincinnatus String Quartet has won many competitions since it has been formed in 2021. The quartet is coached by Kurt Sassmannshaus, Kristin Lee, Ariel Quartet and Juilliard String Quartet.

BoYun 
quickly building an international reputation as a rising young soloist.

Born in Sichuan, China, BoYun began taking violin lessons when she was five years old.
 Two years later, she won her first national prize in China. In junior high, she was admitted to the Sichuan Conservatory of Music and studied there for six years. After her graduation from the Sichuan Conservatory in 2012,  she was accepted to study with Kurt Sassmannshaus at The Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, CCM.
As an active international performer, BoYun continues to perform throughout the United States and also in Europe and Asia. BoYun has performed with pianist Rohan De Silva in China, Germany and the US, and she played in Kurt Sassmannshaus and His Friends concerts worldwide in 2015-2016. 

BoYun has participated in several master classes, including those with Professor Kaixiang Li, Lucie Robert, Nachum Erlich, Maxim Vengerov, Giora Schmidt, Karen Gomyo and Anne-Sophie Mutter. 

BoYun has won many notable awards in her musical career.  She won both the chamber and solo competition of the Great Wall International Music Academy in 2014.  She won the Award of Excellence in Alice & Eleonore Schönfeld International String Competition in 2016, and she was also the first prize winner of Three Arts Competition in 2016, and a Finalist in Piazzolla International Competition. In December 2021, she won the International Clara Schumann Competition.

Jungeun Noh
Born in South Korea, Jungeun Noh began playing the violin at the age of seven. She participated in Seongnam Youth Symphony Orchestra during age 10 to 18, where she developed musical skills through many concerts. After that, she served as a concertmaster in Gyeonggi Nuri Youth Orchestra during 2014 to 2017. Also, she enjoys collaborating with other musicians and has learned and performed significant repertories of chamber music. 
Ms. Noh hold undergraduate in Sookmyoung Women’s univ. in Korea. After moved to U.S in 2017, she started Master of Music and Artist Diploma at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and currently she pursues Doctor of Musical Arts in CCM. She studies with prof. Kurt Sassmannshaus who is considered one of today’s preeminent violin pedagogues. Also, she is now serving as a second violin in Cincinnatus String Quartet which is formed with doctoral students from the University Cincinnati Conservatory of Music since 2020.

Yue Yang
​Yang Yue is the viola member in Cincinnatus String Quartet. 
Yang Yue is a Doctorate of Musical Arts candidate from the studio of Professor Kurt Sassmannshaus at CCM. Born in Panzhihua, China, Yue started learning the violin at age four. Only one year later she demonstrated her talent by winning the city’s instrumental competition; by the age of ten, she had already performed several solo recitals. In 2016, Yue completed her undergraduate studies at Bryn Mawr College, where she decided to major in music. She then studied at Lynn University Conservatory of Music with Professor Carol Cole, and received her Master of Music degree as well as Professional Performance Certificate. Yue has played in a few professional orchestras including Ningbo Symphony Orchestra, Palm Beach Symphony and First Editions chamber orchestra. As soloist, she has also performed concerti with orchestras such as Bryn Mawr-Haverford College Orchestra, the National Music Festival Orchestra, Lynn Philharmonia, and Ningbo Symphony Orchestra. In 2019 Yue was awarded Boca West Scholarship and Strings Scholarship at Lynn Conservatory; that summer, she won second place as well as the audience favorite prize at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Young Artist Competition at the Texas Music Festival. Yue is an avid chamber musician; besides music she also enjoys running, having competed in distances from 100-meter dash all the way to full marathon.

Abigail Leidy
Cellist Abigail Leidy is from Virginia studying under Professor Alan Rafferty at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. In support of her studies, Abigail is the recipient of several music scholarships, including the Conservatory Honors
Scholar Award, Vaughn Hedrick Music Scholarship, and Epperson Music Award Fund. At CCM, Abigail is a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra and is an active chamber musician. She serves as cellist of the Cincinnatus String Quartet. Abigail has had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses for Clive Greensmith, Hans Jørgen Jensen, Johannes Moser, Gary Hoffman, and Zlatomir Fung, among others.
Abigail is the first-prize winner of competitions including the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition, Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association Competition, Eastern Music Festival Concerto Competition, RSYO Concerto Competition, and ArtsLive Young Artist Competition. These competitions allowed her the opportunity to perform as soloist with the Richmond Symphony, Piedmont Symphony
Orchestra, and Eastern Music Festival Orchestra.

Abigail founded and currently serves as President of the University of Cincinnati Cello Society, where she enjoys organizing masterclass opportunities and orchestra concert trips, and assists in the commissioning of new works for cello.
